Monday Minutes: Creating Vendor Types in Koha
In this week's Monday Minutes, Jessie and Kelly show a new feature that will allow libraries to create Vendor Types to further distinguish vendors in the system.
Authorized Values
To assign Vendors in Koha with a Vendor Type, a library will need to create some options to appear in the dropdown menu. All dropdown menus are driven by Authorized Values in Koha, found in the Administration Module.
VENDOR_TYPE - is a new Authorized Value and will have no pre-populated choices. A library can create values in this Authorized Value to be used in the Acquisitions Module with Vendors.
In our tutorial video, we created a few, such as Donors, Electronic Resources, and Book Vendor.
Vendors
Whether creating a new vendor or editing an existing vendor, once values have been assigned to the Vendor Type in Authorized Values, these choices can be visible and assigned to a vendor.
After a library has assigned vendors to a specific type, this type will show up in the Vendor List within the parathesis.
