The Aspen 24.07 release includes more than 60 updates for libraries!

Every month we dedicate development time to our partner priorities, whether those are the most commonly requested updates or the changes that would make the biggest impact on library patrons and staff. With this month’s release, we really leaned in to get as many of those updates done as possible and we know our partners will be pleased with so many of the smaller, quality of life, improvements. As our libraries are always telling us, continuing to work on these small details makes Aspen the best-in-class patron experience."

Although the updates this month touched on most aspects of Aspen, the areas of search and indexing, accessibility, and translations saw the most improvements.

Updates to search and indexing include changes to how “by” in titles is handled for grouped work matching, improvements to format detection, and making sure that searches with special characters are handled correctly for more niche use cases such as subject headings.

Improvements to Aspen Discovery and LiDA for translations ensure that all messages within Aspen, whether they originate from the ILS, an econtent provider, or Aspen itself are translatable and that those translations are also available in LiDA.

Finally, we’re so proud of the continued usability and accessibility work that we’re doing to make sure that Aspen is not only accessible but user-friendly to all patrons. This work was recently recognized by the National Network for Equitable Library Service (NNELS) for excellence in accessibility.
