Aspen Discovery

Aspen 23.11 includes email templates for self registration welcome messages, better support for consortium searching in LiDA, and more than 50 additional updates, many specific to particular ILS integrations.

Aspen works with seven different Integrated Library Systems, each of which are updating code or adding new functionality all the time. With the 23.11 release we took the opportunity to update many of the integration points with these ILSs to ensure all libraries have as much functionality as possible."

- Jordan Fields, Aspen Product Librarian

Building on the Symphony updates to self-registration in the 23.10 release, Aspen now includes email templates for self-registration for libraries using Koha and Symphony. Libraries can create multiple templates to support different languages or different library systems within a consortium. Tokens are also available so libraries can personalize the email with details such as a person’s name and library branch.

We’ve also added a new facet to LiDA to allow patrons to switch between searching different subsets of their collection. This facet is frequently used by consortiums to search an individual library’s collection versus all libraries in a consortium.

Finally, we made dozens of ILS specific updates including (but not limited to) better ecommerce support for CARL.X, patron confirmation of renewing item costs for Polaris, utilizing the Sierra APIs for placing item level holds, duplicate checking for self-registration in Symphony, increased error checking for Evergreen, and updates for checking expired passwords for Koha.
