Aspen Discovery

ByWater Solutions Announces the Addition of “New” Badges in Our Aspen Discovery 22.08 Release

Sometimes it’s the small things that can make the biggest difference to patrons. Aspen’s “New” badge is the perfect example of that kind of delightful detail that makes using Aspen a pleasure.”

- Jordan Fields, Aspen Product Librarian

For this month’s release we’re excited to offer our patrons an easy way to identify new items added to their library’s collection! Libraries will now have the option to automatically display a “New” badge that will display on covers for anything added to the catalog in the last week.

There are even more “New” features for patrons with saved searches. Aspen will now display a badge when a saved search has new titles within the patron’s account so users have a visual indicator that there is something new for them to check out.

We don’t want to leave our app users out, so these features are available in the LiDA app too! In addition, Lida also now has a Saved Search section in the account drawer and links to all of a patron’s saved searches from the new Saved Searches screen.

Of course the “New” badges aren’t the only new feature for Aspen this month! We’ve done some reorganizing and renaming of sections in the patron’s account to make it more concise and user friendly.

Aspen now supports Hoopla Binge Pass records and consortia can now configure both EBSCOhost and EDS when they have some libraries using one and some the other (but only one configuration per member library or Aspen user interface).

We will also now hide the renew button and provide appropriate messaging when a title can’t be renewed because it has holds.

And these are just a few of the updates, check out the complete release notes for everything you need to know for the 22.08 Aspen release!
