Wyoming State Library's WYLDcat Catalog goes live on Aspen Discovery with ByWater Solutions Support

ByWater Solutions, America’s forefront provider of Open Source library technology support, announced today that they are providing support and hosting services for the Wyoming State Library and their WYLDCat Catalog.

The WYLD Network is a statewide, multi-type library consortium of 108 libraries in Wyoming. Library services are supported by the Wyoming State Library’s WYLD Office in Cheyenne. The shared bibliographic database contains 1.1 million records and supports 3.3 million transactions annually.

One of WYLDCat's member libraries, the Campbell County Library:

Desiree Saunders, WYLD Program Manager, recently commented:

"After a user satisfaction survey in 2020, Wyoming libraries in the WYLD Network identified discovery as the highest priority for improving library services to patrons. After an extensive review, the Wyoming State Library found that Aspen Discovery, supported by ByWater Solutions, would best meet the needs of the multi-type library consortium. We were excited by the speed of development and the reviews from other library consortia who had already made the leap to Aspen. After demoing Aspen at our annual user group meeting, our libraries were incredibly enthusiastic about all the features that it had to offer. Our timeline was very accelerated, and we had a few custom processes that required new development, but ByWater has been amazing at getting us through a complex rollout. One of the first Wyoming libraries to go live on November 1, said, “The transition was so smooth and our patrons were able to start using the system as if they’d been using it all along.”

Our implementation team has been wonderful to work with; they have been extremely responsive, understanding, and thorough. Migrating discovery services is no small task, and would be a stressful undertaking in normal circumstances. Even with our shorter timeline, our ByWater team has gotten us through the difficult process of learning the system and setting it up to best meet the needs of our libraries. We can’t say enough great things about our experience with ByWater through this process."
