Libki Reaches the Development Milestone of Regular Monthly Releases with ByWater Solutions Support

Libki was born out of the need to manage PC reservations, reduce clipboard dependency, and avoid awkward interactions with patrons. Now it allows librarians around the world to efficiently manage time-limited access to computers on a network for patrons and guests, set up and utilize print management without complicated infrastructure, and do it all with Open Source software.

Kyle Hall, Koha and Libki Developer and our Director of Development & Operations, brought Libki to ByWater in 2012. He has been the lead developer of the Libki project since his public library days. He has continually developed and supported this application and is excited for the next phase that's about to begin.

Starting in August 2022 the Libki Project will reach a new milestone in its development. It will adopt a rigorous monthly release schedule with the latest stable version released on the first Monday of every month. We're excited that the project is growing in popularity and maturing to meet the needs of our partners and libraries around the world. A monthly release schedule ensures users get the newest features and bug fixes on a routine basis.

What Are Libki's Goals?

1. Ensure equity of computer resources in public libraries.

2. Make it easy for libraries to customize their PC reservation and printing services while providing a quality user experience to their patrons.

3. Provide a feature rich open source alternative to an area of the library technology marketspace dominated by proprietary offerings.
