ByWater Solutions Announces November 2024 Community Giveback Winner

Each month, ByWater Solutions selects one library to be awarded $500. These funds are meant to support libraries and their communities and fill gaps in funding to further library goals.

We are excited to announce our November 2024 winner of the ByWater Community Giveback, the Whitewood Public Library library in Whitewood, South Dakota!

The funds will be used to support the funding of youth programs at the library.

Deb Terhune, Library Director at the Whitewood Public Library, commented:

We serve a small, rural community. Our town is approxiximately 1,000 people. There is a definite need for children programs. Our town has an elementary school, but no local programs for kids. I am the new Director, having been here since Feb. There had not been any programs for kids or adults in the last 1 1/2 years, and we have seen a definite need. Our library is actively setting up programs for the community, focusing on the children. We have had a Summer Reading Program, I have weekly Story Time, we have had craft activities, movie days, educational presentations, and also adult based programs. We have a small budget that does not come close to the needs to support these programs. The $500 would GREATLY help fund more programs and purchase supplies."

About the ByWater Community Giveback

We will select one library a month to donate $500 to their Non-profit 501c3 organization such as Friends of the Library, Library Foundation, or other funding entity. These funds are meant to support libraries and their communities and fill gaps in funding to further library goals. We LOVE libraries. Our team is made up of librarians and library fanatics. We're always looking for ways to give back and create opportunities where we can to support libraries. This is a small token of thanks for all the hard work libraries do in their communities every day.
