Koha Question of the Week: How Do Digests Work for Messaging?

Each Friday, we will bring you a new Koha Question of the Week. We will select real questions that we receive and share the answers with you!

Question: How Do Digests Work for Messaging?

Answer: Several of Koha's notices have both single-item and digest versions available: Checkin, Checkout, Item Due, Advance Notices, Holds available, and Automatic Renewal notices. The non-digest version sends out single-item notices, which is a lot of email for library power users!

By default, digests work by queueing up items in the relevant notice in 15 minute increments, then sending out those messages throughout the day as triggered by circulation activity. This may still result in multiple digest emails, especially as libraries process materials in waves throughout the day, but it is still going to be the more efficient option for many circulation-related notices.
