Staff Spotlight: Kirstien Kroeger
Each month, we highlight one of our talented team members. This month, our Staff Spotlight will focus on Kirstien Kroeger, Aspen Developer at ByWater Solutions.
Who is Kirstien?
Kirstien recently celebrated 3 years at ByWater! Since joining ByWater, Kirstien has been absolutely crucial in the evolution of Aspen LiDA and has utilized her impressive skills in UX and patron experience to keep ByWater well ahead of the competition.
Nate Curulla, CRO at ByWater Solutions, commented:
What Kirstien has accomplished in the past 3 years is truly impressive and we greatly appreciate the impact she has had on the Aspen project for both our team and partners!"
Kirstien holds an MPS in UX Design from MICA, a BS in Computer Science from Fort Hays State University, and an AAS in Graphic Design from Salina Area Technical College. With over twenty years of development and design experience, she fell into the library world on a whim after joining the technology department at her local public library. While working there, she quickly found libraries as a place where she could apply her skills to make information and resources more accessible to real people.
Kirstien lives in central Kansas with her cat Harley, and in her free time she enjoys reading spooky thriller novels, collecting quirky art from comic conventions, and watching too many true crime documentaries.
Kirstien is a member of the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP), User Experience Professionals Association (UXPA) International, and serves on the Organizing Committee for Designing for Digital.
Kirstien's Favorite Part of Working at ByWater
I love working at ByWater and having the opportunity to constantly learn new things and work on challenging projects. Aside from the awesome crew that I get to work with every day, it’s super cool to work on a product like Aspen where we’re really empowering people and communities to use their library resources and keeping information accessible. I also love the warm and fuzzy feelings of walking into my local library and seeing patrons use what I’ve helped create.
Thanks, Kirstien , for all you do at ByWater Solutions!
