Staff Spotlight: Eric Swenson

Each month, we highlight one of our talented team members. This month, our Staff Spotlight will focus on Eric Swenson, a member of our Implementation Team and "Chief Enthusiasm Officer" at ByWater Solutions.

Who is Eric?

Eric recently celebrated one year working at ByWater Solutions! Eric came to ByWater with a wealth of public library experience, having worked at the South Central Kansas Library System coordinating I.T. Support for libraries in 14 different counties. His colleagues at ByWater lovingly refer to him as the "Chief Enthusiasm Officer" due to his unwavering enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to always lend a helping hand.

Nate Curulla, CRO at ByWater Solutions, commented:

Over the past year Eric has been a huge help in our implementation and support teams, working closely with our partners to make sure that their transition to ByWater is seamless and their move to support once live is smooth. He has done all of this with unmatched enthusiasm for what we do and why we do it."

Eric grew up in a family of librarians. His mother and sister blazed the trail that he later followed while completing his Bachelors Degree in Technology Management from Kansas State University. It was during his time as a student worker in the Salina Campus library that he developed a passion for what libraries can do and the incredible stories that their data can hold. He first full-time job in library land was for the South Central Kansas Library System where he provided I.T. support for 14 counties worth of libraries ranging from the "tiny but mighty" up to the "oh wow, that's big". Eric enjoys discovering new board games, going on adventures with his wife and three children, and generally geeking out over things.

Eric's Favorite Part of Working at ByWater

Working for ByWater allows me the unique opportunity to be at that intersection of people and technology by being a helping hand to partners from all across the map. It is truly a blessing to be able to assist our partners in all so many different ways, but I don't do it alone. I couldn't ask for a more supportive group of coworkers. You can feel that team spirit, despite the distance between us, and it shows. We are all here to see each other succeed which then means our partners succeed. We are out here to make sure libraries are supported and set up for success. That's a pretty awesome mission and I am proud to be a part of it."
