Slow CPAN downloads

I’m working on an install for a client right now and I’m very impressed at the very slow speeds that CPAN is downloading (or should I be saying un-impressed). Is this due to the VPN being engaged (I don’t think so). I think it’s just because of the choice of CPAN repo that my server is using. I’ll tell you one thing I never experienced something that slow when I was doing computing in the cloud. I’ve become a big fan of that model. It’s great for business and is very flexible.
