Librarian of the Month

September 2018 Librarian of the Month

Every month ByWater Solutions recognizes a librarian that has made an impact on their library and Community. We are happy to announce that Christopher is our September Librarian of the Month.

Christopher Davis is the Systems & E-Services Librarian at Uintah County Library.

Christopher was nominated by Sam Passey, Director of Uintah County Library. Sam shared this message with us:

Christopher helped to establish a library consortium (using Koha) with a neighboring county. With each update, bug, and quirk of Koha he's found us workable solutions, patches, and provided countless hours of training new people on how to best use Koha.
Christopher is an active participant of the Koha US users group and in the past served as an officer of that group. Christopher is a dedicated public servant whose work often goes unnoticed because our ILS works so smooth.

More recently Christopher discovered that Overdrive's SIP connection to our ILS possibly could allow Overdrive to access our patron's private data. He identified the need to commission Bywater Solutions to make a patch to allow our library to identify and better control which data partners using SIP connections can access. This is in an effort to better protect patron privacy. In light of recent social media privacy fails, Christopher's efforts seem even more important.

We're very happy to present this award to Christopher, he always is ready to help spread the word about Koha and the community.
