Partner Spotlight - The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Michael S. Engl Family Foundation Library and Archive
This month, our Partner Spotlight will focus on the The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Michael S. Engl Family Foundation Library and Archive in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We spoke with Elizabeth Ehrnst, Head of Research Collections and Services, to tell us more about the library.
Tell us a little bit about the library
The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum Michael S. Engl Family Foundation Library and Archive is a special library that supports the Museum’s exhibitions, collections, and activities through research services and resources with an emphasis on studies of Georgia O’Keeffe and her contemporaries, related regional histories, and Modernism. The library and archive collections contain a variety of holdings including: exhibition catalogs, scholarly publications, vertical (subject) files, institutional records, correspondence, photographs, ephemera, audiovisual material, and O’Keeffe’s personal libraries.
Tell us something unique/interesting about your library
While the library and archive provides access to a range of material for research purposes daily, a significant part of the collection is sourced for exhibitions in the library and Museum galleries, as well as loaned for traveling exhibitions around the world.
How does being a part of the open source community help the library and archive?
Migrating to Koha in 2018 has allowed us to better share library resources through the system and by linking to other platforms that we use for collections promotion and discovery. Koha has also provided us the ability to more efficiently create and manage unique collections data for original cataloging, exhibitions and preservation efforts. The wonderful people working within the open source community and at Bywater have made it is easy to collaborate and make improvements!
