Northeast Harbor Library Chooses ByWater Solutions’ Koha Support

ByWater Solutions, an open source community contributor and America’s forefront provider of Koha support, announced today that the Northeast Harbor Library, of Northeast Harbor, Maine is now live on their installation of the Koha integrated library system.

ByWater Solutions completed the migration for the Northeast Harbor Library’s 50,000 plus volumes earlier this year and will be providing ongoing Koha support and hosting services to them. Their custom OPAC can be viewed at http://neharbor.bywatersolutions.com/.

Brook Ewing Minner, Director of the Northeast Harbor Library commented on their decision to partner with ByWater:

“The Northeast Harbor Library was using Koha for about 4 years before we made the switch to ByWater Solutions. We were impressed with the friendly and knowledgeable customer service and it was primarily for this reason that we selected ByWater over similar companies. Our migration was seamless and any little issues we’ve had since have been handled promptly by the ByWater team. We’re very pleased with our choice and our patrons are loving many of the new features that we can offer them.”

About The Northeast Harbor Library:
The original Northeast Harbor Library and Reading Room opened in 1892 as a seasonal subscription library. The founders , most of them summer residents , developed an outstanding collection for that era. In 1905 the need for a winter library was met when the Neighborhood House opened with a single large room as a winter library called the Northeast Harbor Village Library. This was a free library for the community and its collection was expanded each fall when books were brought from the summer library. The library currently serves as three libraries using a single collection: A privately funded library for seasonal residents, a “free” library for the towns’ inhabitants, and a school library for Mount Desert Elementary School.
