Searchable facets and full translation support available with the 23.04 release of the Aspen LiDA library app

Ensuring that library services are available to all patrons, no matter what language they speak, is incredibly important. We are so pleased to be able to offer LiDA in all of the languages available from Aspen Discovery automatically so libraries have one more avenue of access for everyone."

We are excited to announce several new features for Aspen LiDA with our 22.04 including language and translation support as well as searchable facets.

Aspen partners can now enable any languages they have configured in Aspen Discovery for LiDA. The language options in LiDA are built off of the existing Aspen Discovery language and translation framework, so any translations made in Discovery will automatically apply to LiDA. With this release we also introduced languages in the Aspen Community Content Server, which means that libraries with support from ByWater Solutions can also automatically share translations with each other.

Another feature of note this release is the ability to search within facets, just as users can in Aspen Discovery. Searching within facets is extremely important for patrons to be able to narrow searches quickly and easily without endless scrolling. We also added support for bibliographic records with items that have different item types, better volume navigation, and contextual system permissions when automatically brightening the library card screen for barcode scanners.
