Travel like a pro!

Travel tips from our Road Warriors!

We love visiting our partners in person! Between the Sales Team and the Education Team, we do a lot of traveling - on average, it works out to about 1 week per month per person! I thought it would be fun to share some of our favorite travel tips with you.

Bill

  • Sign up for TSA Precheck to avoid the long security lines.

  • Bring a refillable bottle to avoid paying for numerous bottles of water.

  • I also download all the apps for the airline and hotel.
    • Some airlines will give you access to free entertainment through their apps. A few airlines now give free wifi over their app. Delta's is to start offering Feb1 for skymiles members. TMobile customers get unlimited wifi on United.

    • The apps for the hotels will often let you access a digital key card allowing you to check in online and go straight to your room.

  • Flight Aware is my go to for checking flight statuses and confirming gate numbers. They sometimes post flight delays/cancellations before the airlines.

  • Relax, when things go wrong (and they will), being polite but persistent will get you farthest.

  • If your flight is canceled or delayed any gate agent can help you. Find one that's not busy and ask them for help.

Catrina

  • Fly direct whenever possible.

  • Only check a bag when absolutely necessary. Especially if you have a connecting flight.

  • Use packing cubes and roll your clothes to cram as much as you can into that carryon bag.

  • When trying to fit all of your liquids into the quart-sized clear plastic bag, use contact lens cases for moisturizers and other gels.

  • Wear the same outfits when traveling for work - no unknowns with ill-fitting shoes or pants that pinch. Mix up outfits with accessories, but choose either black or brown so you don’t have to take multiple belts or shoes.

Kelly

  • Bring your own water bottle!

  • Pack a type of Immunity Booster -like EmergenC, and start taking it prior to traveling, during traveling, and even after.

  • Get a suitcase with a battery pack- some airports lack enough outlets to charge devices during layovers.

  • Pack snacks! Almonds, Chocolate PB cups, Granola Bars and Oranges are my go-to's.

  • Notepads/Journals/Pens- I love having one in my carry-on so I can take notes, make lists, etc.

  • A book! I love reading on planes :)

Jessie

  • 100% agreement to a water bottle, signing up for TSA Precheck, Immunity Booster, snacks (dried fruit, granola bars, trail mix) and comfy pants/tops for travel.

  • headphones - I pack my wireless headphones and have a pair of corded just in case they die

  • download an ebook or audiobook on my phone before I leave

  • pack Throat Coat® Tea life saver when I am talking all day at a training or conference

  • extra hand-sanitizer

Sara

  • Portable battery packs are also great if you don't need new luggage otherwise!

  • Honey throat drops for long days of talking

  • If you are not Precheck, to get through security faster, look ahead in the line for what they're requiring you to remove from your bag and what goes in bins. Some airports (or even some lines within the same airport) don't need electronics out, some want all suitcases/bags in bins vs. directly on the line, some need electronics in a bin separate from shoes but for others they can be together etc.

  • If you wear masks for travel - I like the over the head kind for long flights (and have had good luck with that brand/company). They're slightly more annoying to take off/put on but don't make my ears ache after a couple of hours.

  • Take a picture of your parking spot/aisle when you park at the airport. When you stumble off the plane at the end of the trip, you’ll be thankful!

  • I always pack a resistance band - it takes practically no space, and with it I can exercise in my hotel room - everything from gentle stretching to cardio!

  • Wear compression socks on the airplane. I move around a lot during a typical day, so being confined when flying often causes my ankles to swell. Compression socks to the rescue! They also give you that extra bit of pep on those long trudges through airports.

  • Toss a pair of cheap/thin slippers in your suitcase for use in the hotel room. After a long day, you want to be barefoot, but you really don’t want to be barefoot on hotel carpet!

  • Buy the longest charging cables you can find and keep them in your bag. I have a 10’ one for my laptop, and a 10’ one for my phone - plugs are never near enough to where you need them! And everyone knows, if you take it out of your bag to use at home, you’ll never find it again!
