Monday Minutes: Enhancements to ElasticSearch

In this week's Monday Minutes, Nick Clemens, Head of Koha Development with ByWater Solutions, joins Kelly and Jessie to discuss the enhancements with Elasticsearch coming in the next upgrade.
Elasticsearch
Elasticsearch is the primary source of searching in Koha. With this upgrade, ByWater partners can add more search indexes to their Elasticsearch configuration. At this time, the process of adding these new search indexes to your library's Elasticsearch Configuration is to submit a ticket to ByWater Solutions and we will update those indexes and then re-index your library site. A library can make some of these changes themselves, like the new feature, Bug 35138, which allows the re-ordering of the facets for both the staff side and the OPAC. If those changes are made by the library, please still send in a ticket so we keep track of your mappings and configuration. Each library has its mappings, so when we reindex the library, we want to apply the correct mappings to the site.

34693 Add 035$a as Other-control-number index in authorities search indexes (MARC21, Elasticsearch)
36574 Canceled/invalid ISBN not indexed for MARC21- add field 020$z
36578 Elasticsearch: publisher-location (pl) index should include field 752 (for old prints) and also support UNIMARC. This extends the Elasticsearch default search field mappings to include 752 (MARC21) and 210a, 214a (UNIMARC) in the index for place of publication.
36584 Add MARC fields 520, 561, and 563 (MARC 21) to Elastic Search note search field
- 36723 Add musical presentation to Elasticsearch index mappings MARC 254
- 27153 ElasticSearch should search keywords apostrophe blind (23.11.00)
If a library would like to include any of these indexes or functionality, please send us a ticket once your library has been upgraded and we will update your mappings and reindex your Koha site.
