Monday Minutes: Automatic Renewal Circulation Rule

In this week's Monday Minutes, Kelly and Jessie discuss a new column that in the Circulation and Fine Rule matrix that will separate the 'no renewals before' to apply to manual and automatic renewals.

Koha currently applies the No Renewal Before value to both manual and automatic renewal. Libraries that use a mix of manual and automatic renewal often don't want the same behavior between them, so this enhancement provides flexibility to provide rules for each type of renewal, automatic or manual.

Circulation and Fine Rule Matrix

1. Navigate to Administration.
2. Click on Circulation and Fine Rules Matrix in Administration.
3. Notice there is a new "No Automatic Renewal Before" column.
4. This column works like the "No Renewal Before" - enter a value that will tell Koha to automatically renew items for the patron with the X number of days prior to the due date.
5. Depending on the value of the column, patrons and staff will be able to renew items within the time frame of the due date.

Note: If a library is not using Automatic Renewals, this column does not need to be filled out.
