Question: How to add a Manual Restriction on a Patron?
Answer: Koha can automatically restrict a patron depending on the library's setup. In addition, a staff member can add a manual restriction to the patron.
How to:
When on a patron account, within the checkout section of their page- there is a tab called "Restrictions".
Koha will allow staff to add a comment to this restriction and date when this expires. If a date is not entered, this will be an indefinite restriction.
Once a patron is restricted, the ability to checkout to that patron is removed from the screen, there will be no, 'Checkout' box to scan items.
A system preference to be aware of with patron restrictions, RestrictionBlockRenewing, which allows the library to either allow staff or not allow staff to renew items checked out to the patron while they are restricted.
