Each Friday, we will bring you a new Koha Question of the Week. We will select real questions that we receive and share the answers with you!

Question: How Does CanMarkHoldsToPullAsLost Work?

Answer: The CanMarkHoldsToPullAsLost system preference is for libraries using the Holds To Pull module to pull on-shelf holds for patrons (typically single-site libraries). It works in conjunction with UpdateItemWhenLostFromHoldList, where libraries can set the lost value to assign to holds marking lost in this way. However--and this is the tricky bit that libraries often find confusing--the option to mark an item lost from holds to pull is only activated on item-level holds. For bib-level holds, which is the most common type of hold for most libraries, librarians still have to click through to the record and mark the item missing from the items tab, even if a record only has one item on it.
