Koha How-To
Koha Question of the Week: How Does Content Cafe Integrate with Koha?
Each Friday, we will bring you a new Koha Question of the Week. We will select real questions that we receive and share the answers with you!
Question: How Does Content Cafe Integrate with Koha?
Some of our partners subscribe to Baker & Taylor's Content Cafe. Depending on your subscription this integration can provide enhancements like cover images, author notes, and reviews. We suggest checking with Baker & Taylor to see what all your subscription covers.
If you have a subscription, you should have a username and password for Baker & Taylor. If not, you can reach out to your B&T representative for this.
In Koha, you can go into the Administration and search Global system preferences for "baker" to pull up the Enhanced Content.
You can also go to Administration > System Preferences > Enhanced Content and scroll to Baker and Taylor.
Once there you'll want to make sure that BakerTaylorEnabled is "Add" and your "BakerTaylorUsername" and "BakerTaylorPassword" are filled in.
Once enabled you'll see a "Content Cafe" hyperlink on your item records.
When you click on the "Content Cafe" hyperlink, it will take you to these enhanced options. Depending on the item and your Content Cafe package, various additional options will be available (i.e. some will have only cover image, some will have cover image and author notes, some will have cover image and reviews, etc.).
You can further click into each available option.
Here is what the "Author Notes" link for this item looks like for example.
If you want to create a shortcut to have your cover images jump automatically to the Content Cafe enhancements inside of the item record you can fill in the URL in the BakerTaylorBookstoreURL Preference.
Use this template to generate the URL using your individual Baker & Taylor ID and Password in the bold sections of the below URL:
contentcafe2.btol.com/ContentCafeClient/ContentCafe.aspx?UserID=IDHERE&Password=PASSWORDHERE&ItemKey=
Note: You do not need to include "https://" since Koha already has this filled in.
Here is how the information will display when you click on the cover image inside of the item record:
If you want to create a shortcut to have your cover images jump automatically to an enlarged book cover inside of the item record you can fill in the URL in the BakerTaylorBookstore URL Preference using the below URL:
contentcafe2.btol.com/ContentCafe/Jacket.aspx?UserID=IDHERE&Password=PASSWORDHERE&Return=T&Type=L&Value=
Note: You do not need to include "https://" since Koha already has this filled in.
Here is how the information will display when you click on the cover image inside of the item record:
