This development would extend the existing parent item type circulation rules to include parent item type holds.

This would allow for libraries to use specific item types (such as DVD and NEWDVD) with a shared hold limit under the MOVIES parent item type.

Development

  • Adjust the hold code to check parent limits
  • If an item type has a parent type, get the parent's max hold value
  • Check current holds on the same type against
    • Parent type
    • Specific type
    • Sibling types
  • Add unit tests
  • Refactor existing code to meet current guidelines
