Learn about the history of Koha, why it was created and see the growth history of the system in terms of adoption worldwide. We will also discuss the advantages of using Koha from a patron and staff perspective and how the community operates utilizing collaborative development to evolve the system.

What was it like to transition to Koha from a proprietary ILS in a public library? Hear perspectives on staffing needs as well as what it is like working with an open source vendor and the cost differences associated. The positives and negatives of using Koha in a public library will also be explored.

Members of the Vermont Organization of Koha Automated Libraries (Vokal) talk about what it takes to create your own consortium, including operating costs, difficulties faced and how things are progressing as one of the largest self made co-operative of libraries on Koha.
