ByWater Solutions wouldn’t be who we are without our partner libraries. See what they have to say about working with ByWater for Koha support.
We’ve had a very positive experience from planning to roll out. Even now, we continue to benefit from great customer service, which is of great benefit to us as we do not have a systems librarian. Whatever questions we have, we are confident that the ByWater team and other members in the ByWater community can assist us getting the right information.
The benefits of the Koha system have enabled the Farmington Libraries to build a strong collection and meet the ever-evolving needs of our community, I’m happy with the knowledge that we have 6 more years ahead of us with Koha and ByWater Solutions. The savings we have seen in conjunction with the strong and stable relationship we have with ByWater has been integral to the Libraries’ growth in the past several years.
Our transition to the Koha system was a positive experience throughout, from the pre migration meetings to go-live. ByWater was always ready with support, anticipating situations we had not thought of. The training was excellent, every detail of the system was explained thoroughly. Our students and faculty love the many new features, including the shelf browse which has made shelving for our student library workers a snap. Librarians love being a part of the Koha community.
We made the switch to ByWater Solutions because of their reputation for providing high quality Koha support and training. The ByWater team exceeded our expectations. Their data migration was fast and seamless. We are greatly impressed by how quickly they respond to questions and resolve technical issues. They are always thorough at communicating information about Koha upgrades and offering staff training. And they were wonderful to work with in redesigning our OPAC.
We moved to Koha nine months ago from, if you can believe it, stamping books and borrower’s cards. It’s been like going from a horse-drawn buggy to a Ferrari! We are very happy with Koha and ByWater’s support and our patrons really appreciate all the added convenience of an automated system too.
2015 was an amazing year for Huntsville Public Library. We started the year off with a migration to ByWater Solutions and with the support of the knowledgeable and innovative team at ByWater Solutions we have jumped ‚Äòoutside the box’ with sustainable, efficient and effective procedures that allow staff to provide quality services to users at our physical and virtual (huntsvilleibrary.ca) libraries.
ByWater Solutions customer and technical support are excellent for this small special collection library and its unique titles. As Collection Management Librarian, I work with volunteers in the AIDS Library to catalog materials that circulate. I found the ByWater team easy to work with re: the migration of materials and borrower records from a much older version of Koha. The system was ‚Äòlive’ on schedule; a webinar helped prepare us for 3.12 implementation. The process overall has been seamless with minimal interruption of service. Module screens for cataloging, circulation, and especially the OPAC are user-friendly. I look forward to future collaboration.
Our patrons are so excited about all the new services our OPAC now offers. Now that we’re using Koha my staff’s lives are all a little bit easier as well. Cataloging is now a breeze! The team at ByWater Solutions have been great with providing training and continuous technical support. I can honestly say, it was definitely worth us switching over Koha.
We are delighted with our new Open Source Koha ILS and ByWater’s support. Our users have quickly adapted and we have received only positive feedback so far. In particular, the faceted searching, the option to browse the shelves virtually, and the direct links to Google and WorldCat are met with enthusiasm. On the staff side, we deeply appreciate the web-based interface and flexibility of the system. One of our main reasons for selecting Koha and ByWater support is the continuous development of Koha and the option of joining together with the community to implement new features.
Transitioning from a proprietary to an open source catalog was a necessary step for the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis Library, and partnering with ByWater Solutions enabled us to experience a smooth migration we could not have accomplished on our own. Our patrons enjoy the new Koha interface and SFCP librarians value the responsive training and support offered by ByWater Solutions. Additionally, our librarians and administrators appreciate the economy, potential and flexibility of Koha. We are thrilled to partner with ByWater and participate in the open source community!
We have been very pleased with our new Koha ILS, and with the support we have gotten from ByWater. They were extremely helpful with our migration and customization, and worked with us every step of the way. And since we have gone live with Koha, the responsiveness of the ByWater support team has been just great. And of course, the Koha ILS is web-based, so it is platform independent, and it is extremely feature rich and customizable, offering many features that some well known proprietary products don’t even have. We are very happy that we made the move from our old proprietary ILS to Koha, and that we went with ByWater Solutions for our technical support.
Moving from a proprietary database to a fully functioning, open source ILS has brought the Sasaki Library into the 21st century. The ability to customize Koha to the unique needs of our small corporate library and archives has brought ease of access and use to a new level. ByWater Solutions was instrumental in facilitating this transition: handling the migration of our data, providing excellent training on the Koha software, and answering the million question I had about system setup and use. I really could not have done it with them! I couldn’t be happier with the level of service ByWater provides, the functionality of Koha, or the user experience of this ILS.
I have been a user of the Koha Open Source ILS for over 3 years. It is one of the best tools for granting libraries all the power of a solid ILS system, combined with the flexibility of a web based program. Now both staff and users can have full functionality anywhere we have an Internet connection. The Open Source aspect of the program is even more attractive, as we don’t have to depend on any one single vendor to make the improvements we want. With that said the support we received from ByWater Solutions in migrating our data, training our staff and hosting the ILS has been excellent. The issues that appear with any migration were quickly addressed by Joy and her migration team. They bent over backwards to make sure our data started off as clean as possible; even working over the holidays! Our training conducted by Nicole was spot on and gave the staff a great foundation for our go live. She spent a day with each aspect of our library world and discussed any issues and solutions that might be needed. The most impressive part is all of this was done in a 4 month time frame, and anyone who has done a migration before knows that’s a very sharp deadline.
Schaff Library at Lancaster Theological Seminary has been a Koha library for just over a year. We expected and welcomed the tremendous improvement over our outdated proprietary ILS. What we did not expect was to become a member of a broad family of Koha users and recipients of fantastic out-of-this-world service and support from ByWater Solutions. There are bumps in every ILS migration, but the team at ByWater was very supportive and responsive throughout the migration process. Once migration was complete, the level of service and support did not change. Because Koha is open source, all of us who use Koha participate in its ongoing development. This has been one of the most exciting parts of becoming a Koha library. Our needs lead to ideas that are funneled into developments, and this is how Koha continues to improve the way libraries manage their resources. It is a beautiful thing and we are so proud to be a part of it.
As ‘superlibrarian’, I welcome learning what makes the system tick, and having the freedom to experiment before committing to changes. Koha’s flexibility as a system for our new cooperative has generated valuable discussions of policies and procedures along with the philosophy that guides them. Patrons like the improved account interface, and are just starting to grasp the benefits of a shared catalog. From conversations that have already happened, I feel that patron feedback (and enthusiasm) will guide a lot of decisions as our three libraries develop our cooperative relationship.
