ByWater has been great to work with. We had a really short timeline to make the transition from our old ILS to Koha and the whole staff at ByWater worked with us to make sure we done with time to spare. With the onsite training, library staff were ready to go on our go-live date.
2015 was an amazing year for Huntsville Public Library. We started the year off with a migration to ByWater Solutions and with the support of the knowledgeable and innovative team at ByWater Solutions we have jumped ‚Äòoutside the box’ with sustainable, efficient and effective procedures that allow staff to provide quality services to users at our physical and virtual (huntsvilleibrary.ca) libraries.
I really like having an open source system for our library. ByWater is hosting our library information which means we can feel comfortable about our information being available to our patrons and we won’t have to do backups or upgrading of our computers. I look forward to receiving updates on a regular basis and the employees at ByWater are very warm, helpful and friendly.
When I found ByWater and talked to various people there, I felt I was in good hands. I decided to go with Koha and the support team at ByWater because together, we could address the unique needs of my special library. My experience with the team, notably Danielle and Nicole, has been a lot of fun! They managed to keep their sense of humor even when they actually met my old database and the issues surrounding that twisted situation. It continues to be a pleasure to work with the team and with Koha. I feel totally supported. ByWater has made the transition easy for me, although I am sure they have been challenged by my situation.

We love Koha because it is simple, straight forward, and the students don’t get confused. The previous system we had was complicated and confusing to the students. This is the greatest move we’ve made and kudos to Nicole Engard for training us so well!
Moving from a traditional library system to an open-source system was like shedding off this great weight and frustration that we didn’t realize we had. It has been extremely easy to operate and manage, especially in regards to collecting data and providing user access. The ease of sharing notes, editing accounts and making changes to records have been a synch. If you’re interested in the cataloging feature, my cataloger and I can attest to the ease of dropping in MARC records, batch edits and creating item types , it makes cataloging much more dreamier than it already is for those of us to specialize in this library field. My favorite, or rather ‚Äòmost fun’ is how you can personalize the catalog homepage and make it look and feel exactly the way you want. The open source options for OPAC is the best way to promote your brand and feature items.
ByWater Solutions customer and technical support are excellent for this small special collection library and its unique titles. As Collection Management Librarian, I work with volunteers in the AIDS Library to catalog materials that circulate. I found the ByWater team easy to work with re: the migration of materials and borrower records from a much older version of Koha. The system was ‚Äòlive’ on schedule; a webinar helped prepare us for 3.12 implementation. The process overall has been seamless with minimal interruption of service. Module screens for cataloging, circulation, and especially the OPAC are user-friendly. I look forward to future collaboration.
Transitioning from a proprietary to an open source catalog was a necessary step for the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis Library, and partnering with ByWater Solutions enabled us to experience a smooth migration we could not have accomplished on our own. Our patrons enjoy the new Koha interface and SFCP librarians value the responsive training and support offered by ByWater Solutions. Our transition to the Koha system was a positive experience throughout, from the pre migration meetings to go-live. ByWater was always ready with support, anticipating situations we had not thought of. The training was excellent, every detail of the system was explained thoroughly. Our students and faculty love the many new features, including the shelf browse which has made shelving for our student library workers a snap. Librarians love being a part of the Koha community.
Uintah and Duchesne County Libraries in Eastern Utah were pleased to migrate to Koha supported and hosted by ByWater Solutions as part of an LSTA grant administered by the Utah State Library Division. When we went to look for a new provider of technical support and server hosting for our Koha System we were impressed with what we heard from others about ByWater Solutions. It was a great testimony that regional library systems in our state had chosen their services. ByWater lives up to their reputation. We submitted our first help request with caution. Our previous provider had either not responded or responded and made us to feel silly for asking such a question. Not only did ByWater staff members fix the issue, but it was sent with supportive help and they EVEN followed up on it with us. This a HUGE improvement over our former carrier. We appreciate the realness, the responsiveness and the respect we receive from ByWater.
My biggest fear about moving to Koha was how the staff would adapt to the new system. They love it! Learning Koha was very intuitive and there are so many features that help us with our work flows. I’ve been so impressed with the Koha community. It is easy to find answers to questions and there is so much great sharing that gives tips and tricks. And since going live we’ve been hearing great feedback from our patrons.
