Our patrons are so excited about all the new services our OPAC now offers. Now that we’re using Koha my staff’s lives are all a little bit easier as well. Cataloging is now a breeze! The team at ByWater Solutions have been great with providing training and continuous technical support. I can honestly say, it was definitely worth us switching over Koha.

I have long been a fan of both the flexibility and value offered by open source products like Koha. I chose to go with ByWater Solutions as my support and hosting provider due to their excellent customer service, automatic software upgrades, and competitively-priced hosting options.
We made the switch to ByWater Solutions because of their reputation for providing high quality Koha support and training. The ByWater team exceeded our expectations. Their data migration was fast and seamless. We are greatly impressed by how quickly they respond to questions and resolve technical issues. They are always thorough at communicating information about Koha upgrades and offering staff training. And they were wonderful to work with in redesigning our OPAC.
The migration to Koha was both challenging and rewarding. It was very helpful to have three of us consulting and collaborating as we built our customizations and learned Koha’s functionality. I particularly appreciate the layering of detail to explore. My circulation staff have a simple, user-friendly interface with which to do their jobs, whereas the library director as ‘superlibrarian’ has access to the whole system and all its permutations. I’m looking forward to learning about future upgrades.
Moving from a traditional library system to an open-source system was like shedding off this great weight and frustration that we didn’t realize we had. It has been extremely easy to operate and manage, especially in regards to collecting data and providing user access. The ease of sharing notes, editing accounts and making changes to records have been a synch. If you’re interested in the cataloging feature, my cataloger and I can attest to the ease of dropping in MARC records, batch edits and creating item types , it makes cataloging much more dreamier than it already is for those of us to specialize in this library field. My favorite, or rather ‚Äòmost fun’ is how you can personalize the catalog homepage and make it look and feel exactly the way you want. The open source options for OPAC is the best way to promote your brand and feature items.
I have been a user of the Koha Open Source ILS for over 3 years. It is one of the best tools for granting libraries all the power of a solid ILS system, combined with the flexibility of a web based program. Now both staff and users can have full functionality anywhere we have an Internet connection. The Open Source aspect of the program is even more attractive, as we don’t have to depend on any one single vendor to make the improvements we want. With that said the support we received from ByWater Solutions in migrating our data, training our staff and hosting the ILS has been excellent. The issues that appear with any migration were quickly addressed by Joy and her migration team. They bent over backwards to make sure our data started off as clean as possible; even working over the holidays! Our training conducted by Nicole was spot on and gave the staff a great foundation for our go live. She spent a day with each aspect of our library world and discussed any issues and solutions that might be needed. The most impressive part is all of this was done in a 4 month time frame, and anyone who has done a migration before knows that’s a very sharp deadline.

Our transition to the Koha system was a positive experience throughout, from the pre migration meetings to go-live. ByWater was always ready with support, anticipating situations we had not thought of. The training was excellent, every detail of the system was explained thoroughly. Our students and faculty love the many new features, including the shelf browse which has made shelving for our student library workers a snap. Librarians love being a part of the Koha community.
The Corona Public Library went live about a month ago and we are very happy with Koha. When searching, it is very refreshing to use an ILS that is intuitive and displays relevant results in a logical manner. The ByWater staff have been extremely supportive and helpful through the migration process and have displayed their creativity and expertise when solving issues that have come up during this transition phase from our old ILS.
When I found ByWater and talked to various people there, I felt I was in good hands. I decided to go with Koha and the support team at ByWater because together, we could address the unique needs of my special library. My experience with the team, notably Danielle and Nicole, has been a lot of fun! They managed to keep their sense of humor even when they actually met my old database and the issues surrounding that twisted situation. It continues to be a pleasure to work with the team and with Koha. I feel totally supported. ByWater has made the transition easy for me, although I am sure they have been challenged by my situation.
We had been using Koha for two years when we decided to explore other options for support and hosting. We are all getting used to Koha and feel like any bump we’ve had along the way has been immediately solved by a staff member at ByWater. Our public LOVES the new catalog and all of the options available to them. We feel like it has been a change for the positive and look forward to diving into the reporting very soon. From the initial contact through the training and the conversion weekend, the ByWater staff has been incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. We are just a month into going live and we are so glad we made the change!
We have been very pleased with our new Koha ILS, and with the support we have gotten from ByWater. They were extremely helpful with our migration and customization, and worked with us every step of the way. And since we have gone live with Koha, the responsiveness of the ByWater support team has been just great. And of course, the Koha ILS is web-based, so it is platform independent, and it is extremely feature rich and customizable, offering many features that some well known proprietary products don’t even have. We are very happy that we made the move from our old proprietary ILS to Koha, and that we went with ByWater Solutions for our technical support.
2015 was an amazing year for Huntsville Public Library.
