Uintah and Duchesne County Libraries in Eastern Utah were pleased to migrate to Koha supported and hosted by ByWater Solutions as part of an LSTA grant administered by the Utah State Library Division. Our patrons and staff now enjoy many advanced features right out of the box. ByWater Solutions has been upfront and honest with us and quick to respond to all of our support needs.
We went with Koha because it had competitive features and promised to keep our ILS up to date without expensive extras and upgrades. Migrating isn’t an easy process, but ByWater made it as seamless as possible. Their migration specialists , Dani and Joy , worked tirelessly to merge data from 11 separate libraries into a working consortium.
We’ve had a very positive experience from planning to roll out. Even now, we continue to benefit from great customer service, which is of great benefit to us as we do not have a systems librarian. Whatever questions we have, we are confident that the ByWater team and other members in the ByWater community can assist us getting the right information.
Our transition to the Koha system was a positive experience throughout, from the pre migration meetings to go-live. ByWater was always ready with support, anticipating situations we had not thought of. The training was excellent, every detail of the system was explained thoroughly. Our students and faculty love the many new features, including the shelf browse which has made shelving for our student library workers a snap. Librarians love being a part of the Koha community.
When we went to look for a new provider of technical support and server hosting for our Koha System we were impressed with what we heard from others about ByWater Solutions. It was a great testimony that regional library systems in our state had chosen their services. ByWater lives up to their reputation. We submitted our first help request with caution. Our previous provider had either not responded or responded and made us to feel silly for asking such a question. Not only did ByWater staff members fix the issue, but it was sent with supportive help and they EVEN followed up on it with us. This a HUGE improvement over our former carrier. We appreciate the realness, the responsiveness and the respect we receive from ByWater.

We have been very pleased with our new Koha ILS, and with the support we have gotten from ByWater. They were extremely helpful with our migration and customization, and worked with us every step of the way. And since we have gone live with Koha, the responsiveness of the ByWater support team has been just great. And of course, the Koha ILS is web-based, so it is platform independent, and it is extremely feature rich and customizable, offering many features that some well known proprietary products don’t even have. We are very happy that we made the move from our old proprietary ILS to Koha, and that we went with ByWater Solutions for our technical support.
ByWater Solutions customer and technical support are excellent for this small special collection library and its unique titles. As Collection Management Librarian, I work with volunteers in the AIDS Library to catalog materials that circulate. I found the ByWater team easy to work with re: the migration of materials and borrower records from a much older version of Koha. The system was ‚Äòlive’ on schedule; a webinar helped prepare us for 3.12 implementation. The process overall has been seamless with minimal interruption of service. Module screens for cataloging, circulation, and especially the OPAC are user-friendly. I look forward to future collaboration.
Transitioning from a proprietary to an open source catalog was a necessary step for the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis Library, and partnering with ByWater Solutions enabled us to experience a smooth migration we could not have accomplished on our own. We are very happy with Koha. It was important to us to find a library system that was customizable. With Koha, we can customize features, look and feel and we have direct access to the data to use in other applications. We’re only limited by our imaginations. The move to open source has given us the freedom to create the library system we want. Working with ByWater Solutions to migrate from our previous system went very well.
